But, every now and again, something emerges that reminds us why we call it the beautiful game. Stories that strip the game back to basics, to play for the love, for the enjoyment. Enter, The Unusual Football Field Project in Thailand.
One of the beautiful aspects of football is that it can played almost anywhere. Against a garage, between traffic cones, or in this case, vacant asymmetrical spaces in the community of Khlong Toei, Bangkok. The Unusual Football Field Project has been developed by AP thailand, in collaboration with CJ worx, and consists of creating the world's first non-rectangular pitches that have transformed small and irregularly-shaped plots into practical football fields.
Due to the densely populated area of the community, space to play football is sparse, or so it seemed. The Unusual Football Field Project takes unorthodox, seemingly wasteland settings and redefines the boundaries of the traditional rectangular football pitch, providing a place to play football while bringing the community closer together. Beautiful stuff. When you get a free kick, you're quite literally trying to bend the ball around a wall. Game on.
