Stars of Russia by Luiz Stockler

With 32 teams making the World Cup the esteemed spectacle that it is, each one has their own big name. While they may not have prevailed as the icon for each side, Luiz Stockler has taken 32 players who went to Russia and brought out a different caricature to these characters.

It turned out to be Mbappe's tournament though with a sprinkling of talent, Russia has never scene so much of football's elite on its shores. So many heroes descended towards the tournament and with a playful edge, this series of illustrations bring a less serious side to such a sporting show. Sublime and now assigned to the archive of memories, this series at very least puts each of the players involved in a capsule of inclusion - one almighty tournament to play a part in.

At one point during the tournament, every one of these players would have the world's eyes watching their movements. Every team gets their chance on the biggest stage and an opportunity to shine under the spotlight. For Luiz Stockler - it's through celebrations, iconic movements and snippets of character that these illustrations offer something bespoke. Befitting for a child's introduction to football picture book, they've got to find their way into print, somehow, right?
